Office & Billing Manager
April has been in the medical field for sixteen years. She joined Southern Orthocare in 2008 as the Billing Manager, and has since helped to streamline the billing process, reduce claim errors and denials, and identify faster ways to process authorizations and claims. She has a goal of building positive relationships with payers and being easy to work with due to operational efficiency. April is an expert in the areas of compliance, Medicare O&P documentation requirements, and private payer requirements. She takes great pride in helping each patient receive the care and coverage afforded them by their insurance plan. In her free time, April likes to play softball and spend time with her two daughters, family, and friends.
Sam Miller, BA
Physician Relations Manager
Sam recently joined Southern Orthocare in the role of Physician Relations Manager. Sam has served in various functions within the medical field since 2010. She has worked for the last several years with Tennessee Orthopedic Clinic in Knoxville, TN supporting Orthopedic Surgeons in various aspects of patient care. She is highly athletic and has served as a personal trainer. Sam received her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Tusculum College in 2014. Outside of work she enjoys working out, and spending time with her fiancé as well as family and friends.
Accounting and HR Manager
Marsha joined Southern Orthocare in January of 2011 and serves as the Accounting and HR Manager. She is responsible for all aspects of accounting including payables, payroll, banking, and book-keeping (Quickbooks). Additionally, she serves as the HR Manager. Marsha attended Walter's State Community College and majored in accounting and has significant professional experience in accounting and management. Marsha is active in her church and has served on several medical mission trips to Ecuador, Honduras and Mexico. She and her husband Danny have two children. Recently Danny had a stroke that left him with right-side paralysis. She states, "I understand and am very empathetic to the need our patients have to stay mobile."
Customer Service Specialist
Tori joined Southern Orthocare in 2016. She is the smiling face that patients see when they walk through the door. She is responsible for providing first-class customer service to every patient including efficient paperwork intake, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, and scheduling practitioner appointments. Tori has a gift for making people feel uniquely special, and is skilled at meeting the individual needs of patients. When not at Southern Orthocare, Tori spends as much time as possible with her husband Max and their fur babies Sophie & Piper. She is a lover of God and people and likes to share her favorite Bible verse, which comes from Philippians 4:19. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his Glory in Jesus Christ.”
Customer Service Specialist
Carrie joined Southern Orthocare in 2016 and is excited about having direct patient interaction as a customer service specialist. She is a down to earth country girl who loves to make people smile. Carrie believes that God opened the door for her to join Southern Orthocare, and enjoys helping patients by providing them with individualized support and service. When not at Southern Orthocare, Carrie loves to spend time with her husband and three boys. She is in the regular “mom” cycle of jetting from one sporting event to another. She also enjoys spending time with friends and considers them “God's great gifts.” Two of her favorite life quotes include “never give up” and “when things get too hard to stand then kneel.”
Clinic Administrator, Athens
Deborah joined Southern Orthocare in March of 2017. Deborah is serving as our clinic administrator at our Athens, Tennessee location. Deborah is a compassionate person and is excited to greet patients with a warm welcome. She assists patients with appointments and coordinates their insurance benefits. Deborah brings with her eight years office management experience in the orthotic and prosthetic field. Her first five years were spent specializing in the administration of pediatric upper extremity myo-electric prosthetics. She then joined an orthotic and prosthetic team where she expanded her administrative expertise to include orthotics as well as upper and lower prosthetics. Deborah states, “that her very favorite thing about working with orthotics and prosthetics is when she sees that the devices provided improves the patients’ ability to ambulate, and quality of life”. In her spare time, Deborah enjoys sending time with her husband and family. She loves, painting, boating and all that the great outdoors offers. Deborah’s motto is to treat each day as the treasured gift from God.
